We have generated and sequenced stress-responsive ESTs from Arabidopsis thaliana, Oryza sativa, Mesembryanthemum crystallinum, Hordeum vulgare, Selaginella and Dunaliella. These sequence data are being used to guide directed mutagenesis strategies, for systematic microarray analysis, and to identify open reading frames in genomic DNA sequences of genes identified by random insertional mutagenesis.
